GNH2010: Changing What We Measure from Wealth to Well-Being

This event will:
  • introduce and firmly establish the GNH concept here in the US, and especially in Vermont
  • launch a radical shift in what we measure, especially in Vermont, from wealth to well-being
  • prepare young people to contribute to a future that is guided by indicators that reflect societal values
GNH addresses the urgent need to change how we define, measure and inspire developmental progress from a primarily economic framework of indicators to one that reflects the complexity, interdependence and vulnerability of life on this planet.

According to Bhutan's 4th King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, "Gross National Happiness is more important that Gross Domestic Product," and many others around the world agree. French President, Nicolas Sarkozy recently announced that he will take the GNH concept to the members of the G20 this month (9/09). It is time for the United States to catch up, and Vermont is poised to launch  the American GNH movement.

Champlain College, in Burlington, Vermont on Lake Champlain, will provide a conducive setting for our series of dynamic presentations, workshops, panels and conversations.
