Suvannee Promchan and Linda Wheatley, founders of Sweet Mango Tours.

Who We Are

Linda Wheatley and Suvannee Promchan met in 1987 as American graduate student and Thai interpreter collecting nutrition and community development data in rural Thailand. Since then they have stayed in close touch, producing a variety of projects including tours, a half-marathon along the Mekong River, community development and scholarship funds, and Peace Corps service trainings.

Linda most recently directed leadership programs at the Snelling Center for Government while designing Southeast Asian tours for adults and students in her free time. Previously, she served as associate director for Peace Corps/Thailand, responsible for the country's health projects and the volunteers involved in them. She lives in central Vermont with her two children.

Suvannee is the director of the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University's (INMU) field station in Ubon Ratchanthani, northeast Thailand. She has worked in this region, also know as "Isaan," for 30 years. Suvannee co-founded NatureCare, a nonprofit organization that educates and empowers local people to protect their environment, community, and way of life. She also serves UNICEF's Child Rights Project as advocate and educator. Suvannee's husband, Vicha is an artist and retired teacher. They have two grown children, one of whom is a guide for Sweet Mango Tours.

Suvannee and Linda believe that Sweet Mango Tours LLC contributes to a better world by opening minds and building relationships.
